vtec pressure solenoid problem
my car has not been engaging into vtec, atleast i think thats whats going on. as im climbing up to where its suppose to engage as soon as it hits my vtec engage point it starts sputtering really bad, like i was lifting on and off the gas irratically or almost like a miss. also, while it was being tuned it started to do it and it threw a code for the vtec pressure solenoid or swith, cant remember but anyway, it was being tuned on crome. so i replaced the spool solenoid with a brand new one, still doing it. now, i figured what the hell, i just buy a brand new sensor, or should i buy the entire valve body too?
another thing, i did research and founs that some other people would jump the solenoid and swith wire in order to make the code go away. could this be my problem? or could i not be getting enough oil pressure. my gauge always read high oil pressure. at full throttle and around 6k when the car ran good, i was seeing around 65-75 psi maybe a lil higher. could it be from me using the GE vtec convo kit that utilized the larger oil line from the oil adapter to the head? i know its alot of questions but im just trying to see what others think. i dont wanna buy a whole new vtec valvebody and sensor and it not be my problem that could have been fixed by swapping a wire.

Dirty/clogged screen in your vtec solenoid would make vtec not engage. remove the 3 10mm bolts on the solenoid valve then just pull it off you will see the filter on the solenoid, metal and **** gets in there.
i already swapped it once...my engine is the one with hydrolic gearbox...i had put a solenoid from a b16a engine (the first generation b16a which is older than mine the one that used a cable gearbox).........the solenoid fits exactly with my engine although the solenoid is a bit larger...only the plug dont fit but i had put my plug and it fitted..when i took it for a ride the engine check light still came in and the vtec dont kick in when the light is on........what do you think the problem is???
my vote is your plug is at the wrong place. the ect sensor (i think this is what its called) is the exact same one as the v-tec one. you might of switch them around. try switching them back.
you can check to see if it is the vtp sensor by turning it off in code of the chip or you can jumper the wires at the ecu.
if the car still acts stupid with the switch bypassed like that you know the problem is somewhere else

But heck I am a 50 year old man just getting to know these honda a bit trying to fit in and help my son and grandson and get a little enjoyment time with them.
