b18 at 6000
ok i have posted this before with out any real help. But plz do help me or tell my what ever u think could be my problem no matter how dumb it is. i have a B18 in my crx and it idles fine and runs fine up until 6000. when i hit around 6000 rpms it miss fires and i have no clue what it is. i got new plugs but they didn't do much. i do have a slight leak between my exhaust manfold and down pipe. any help or comments would be great!!!
Could be the cold rev limiter? If the ECU thinks ur engine isn't hot enough, it won't let ur engine rev up past a certain point to protect the engine. Does ur temp gauge show the engine is getting hot? What is the resistance of the temperature sending unit on the side of the head that goes to the ECU when the engine is at normal operating temperature?

Actually my tempurature gauge blew itself out during the swap so i don't know if its warm or cold. i haven't eve driven very far yet b/c it isn't inspected. So it my be to cold? Also i have never looked for codes before........ i look at the ecu to see if it flashes correct? Doi just start it then look for it to flash? thank u for ur help so far!
ok i'll look and see tonight. Also it ran fine the first time i took it out then the second time my friend mashed it all the way. Could i just reset the ecu. Or wouldn't that do anything?

Only some newer B series, I think, 98 and up had it. But as long as hes using an OBD 1 or 0 distributor, it doesn't matter wheter it's present at the crank or not.
You havent told us which OBD version you have anyway.

tdc sensor is in your distributor. the sensor by the crank is like a crank trigger, not needed unless your car is obd2. my 96 ls motor had one,but since im obd1 i dont need it. oh im using the obd2 distributor too with no check engine light
