Power Window Switch? (searched)
I have a 98 civic ex, i noticed the passanger side window to sometimes be sluggish when rolling up, i just chaulked it up to a slow motor, never had a problem with it getting stuck. Well recently i left my windows down and bit rain got in the car.
After this my passanger side window would not rollup or down, or even try to move for that matter. I figured the motor had finally quit on me. So i get another motor and before installing it, i plugged it into the socket on the door and tried to operate it, NO LUCK, the motor wont budge. I then hooked the motor up to a battery and it moved freely... is this a switch problem, i checked the fuses too!!

I agree. A new switch should be too expensive. Find a junkyard.

the passenger side is always slightly slower than the drivers side because the way its wired it has more electrical resistance. but if its really sluggish or has completely stopped then obviously there is a problem, does it sounds like the motor is trying to do anything at all?

no it doesnt..it did for a bit...and stopped and when i banged on it (thats y i thought window motor) but now has completely stopped all together...i know the harness is getting some power because from the master window switch the rear 2 windows still work and the front passenger side will go down with passenger side switch but the two front windows dont work on the master window switch..and checked with the tester...any ideas?
yeah. sounds like its time to take the door panel off and send power and ground direct to the motor, also check the tracks to make sure the rubber liner isnt bound between the window and the track somehow.
well right now door panel is out.. u know which wire is which or where i can find a wiring diagram for the door?..also the rubber liner is good...what about the white box in the door...does that have anything to do with it maybe?
any luck finding out the solution to this?
im workin on someones car and the front passenger window does this crap. doesnt operate from the master switch. but it does go up using the passenger switch. i replaced the motor and still got the same thing, replaced the switch and its the same.

well i just checked all the switches. switched them out with ones that i know work. switched out the motor with one that works. i guess its time to take out the floor harness
well before i do that.. i just printed a wiring diagram from all data to see whats going on...it seems to me that the switch is not getting power to the front windows...or rather the switch is not getting the pwer..so i'm in the process of figuring out why its not and see how it can be fixed..
ok well as a temporary solution.. i just jumped a wire since there is no power going to master switch so i can at least use ut intil i can find out why its not getting power...must be somewhere in between fuse and master switch but at least its working now until i can fix it permanently
