1 pic of my project cheapass straight axle
i didnt take any pics of the finished product outside the car but i thought id post it up anyways. i know the nuts are missing, its just to get it on the ground and rolling.
yeah i plan on doing that. i need to raise the car up a bit in the rear. i didnt take any other pics yet. got all sidetracked and excited just to get the car on the ground. as you can see these struts are for a 96+ civic but the adjustable height was designed for 92-95 struts. i was going to go with strange shocks but i was too poor so i had to work with what i was given.
there is no panhard bar. ive seen other setups with it like this so i just followed in toe. id like to think it wont flex but show me otherwise and ill add a bar
probably going to try and get it aligned on saturday to see how far off it is. hopefully hit the dyno on sunday, we will see.

Just push on the back of the car side to side. If the body swings a bit you'll probably need a panhard bar. With one there would be little/no side to side movement.

i havent done it yet but its going to be hard to distinguish between the tire flexing and the axle moving while im pushing it. i have rod ends on the front id hope it didnt flex for christ sake. anyways, ill go take a peek.
If the two link bars are mounted soild to the axle (which it looks like it is), there is no need for a panhard. If it were a 4 link with no triangulation, it would then need the panhard.

This reminds me of a quote I recently read. Something to the effect of "Don't confuse craftsmanship with engineering, they are not the same thing".
Anyway good luck with that
