i took some pic's of under my car so i will have before pic's (sway & tie bar soon)..... as i loaded up the pic i noticed some rusted up screws and i was wondering what the hell are they?????? and how can i get rid of them?????
any help is welcomed ... thanks

What car is it, a 5g Civic? They don't ring a bell, I can't say I recognize them at a glance. Any shots closer, or something that shows exactly what it attaches?

yeah it is a 5g civic HB..... i don't have any other close up pics or anything. the screws are behind the stock tie bar........ and the other rusted-up part is on the tie bar.

That is the subframe in the picture, I'm assuming thats what you meant? My only guess right now is that it is for the metal straps that usually run across the bottom of the gas tank. I know mine has them, and I can't really see them in your pic.

thats what holds your gas tank up. you can't get rid of them.

no they are not bugging me or anything....... i was just wondering if something is messed up or maybe i should have those peices replaced? im just curious and would like to prevent serious damage (if it is bad) before it costs me into the Gzzz.

The fuel tank is held in place by 2 large "band clamps" (for lack of a better term) or straps.

The rusted bolts you see attach the two halves of the band clamp/strap together.

You can see the straps in the picture (also a little bit rusted).

If your worried about there appearance, scrub them with a wire brush and paint them. Structurally, there fine. Just surface rust.

Thats what I figured they might be, I couldn't see the straps though.

is it common that they rust up????? or is it just mine

and yes Harppua that was helpful....... this weekend or whenever i have extra time i am gonna scrub them up and see if its just surface rust..... if it is i will scrub the rust off and paint them...... if not should i just change the screws?

Probably pretty common, depending where you live. I never really noticed mine, but just about every other exposed screw has some rust on it under my HB.
