Default Engine not getting spark.....Ideas???

I am on my third motor swap....(due to two bad transactions) Anyway, I just swapped in a sohc d16y7 into my ek and hooked everything up....and it doesn't start.

Here is what I know so far:

-Fuel pump is priming
-spark plugs, wires cap and rotor are all new and good (and in the right sequence on dizzy
-battery is brand new and not the issue.
-when I pulled a spark plug wire and turned the car over, there was no spark or arc at all on any of the cylinders.

***IMPORTANT*** since the last motors dizzy was not compatible I had to hack the plug...in the process one of the wires deep inside the thing pulled out, I found it and soldered it, but not real sure if this effected the dizzy???

SO- I guess what I am looking for with this thread are some ideas or opinions, I am trying to get ahold of another dizzy off a working 96+ to test it, but I don't want to overlook something.

Any ideas, thoughts or advice would be comforting.

Thanks

My only advice is to test with another Dizzy.

check all the grounds the t-stat the tranny to frame rail and valve cover to bulkhead.
if not then swap dizzy if available. could be just ignitor or coil

Problem solved! Thanks for your input guys, after first swapping my coil, the dizzy didn't work, I then put a brand new dizzy on and the car started right up perfectly.

I now realize how fragile some of those internal parts are in the distributor. So the lesson I learned- don't pull very hard on the wires, because you cannot solder them back together.
