Default Dropping in cams without tuning?

Will my car run worse if I just drop in the spoon cams and wait a week or two before tuning? I know that I can just not tune it and it will run but I'm wondering about the condition...Thanks.

If I am correct you should be fine, cause those cams are not as agressive as some(jun3, toda b & c). Your not gonna be running better, but you should be ok till you get it tuned in a couple of weeks.

spoon cam is not required too much tuning. if u use it with spoon ecu, it run great even without a adjustable cam spocket.

I recommend EVERYTIME you swap to new cams, to run a few hundred km without tuning... Even with the 64302`s I had no problems to run untuned (ran a little bit slow but who cares..?).

Tuning means to redline the engine on the dyno... And that`s not good for your cams and rockers if they don`t fit together perfectly.

Some people say that cams are wear items and you don`t have to break them in. But they aren`t.

WATCH YOUR OIL after breaking in the cams.. It`s full of particles from the cams..
After 1000km of carefull driving, you`ll find your engine running much smoother than before.

I had one pair of worn in cams and damaged rockers..... and I learned from this.

What do you guys do, when you tune an engine after putting in cams?
Are you just adjusting the air/fuel ratio?

Huh ?

This is a look under the hood of my R. First I adjust the gc setting and then tune f/a ratio

+1/+1 is the gc setting right now.

But that was no longer dyno session, just one run.

My R is now prepared for dynoing and we`ll make it next week. I pray for 190whp

How much $$ should this type of tuning be? I have a set of type-r cams and adjustable cam gears on my 95' GSR and was wondering if this was also necessary (easy answer yes...) or should I wait until i get intake and exhaust

Intake and Exhaust (maybe a decent header) will take some influence on your a/f.
I would wait until the whole swap is done (but make ONE dynorun after every single mod). The numbers can be very interesting.

Here is my basic run ( UNtuned), done in 4th speed

Degreeing your cams is different. This means when the head has been milled or the deck cleaned that your tdc has changed. That's what the cam gears help you do is reach tdc again..... Then you know your true 0.....
