Default Bullydog for Civics?

Hey everyone. I have a question related to performance chips. My uncle drives a newer (2000-something) Ford F-250 automatic diesel truck. He bought a Bullydog chip for it that allows him to adjust the characteristics of his transmission to produce harder and faster shifts. I think there's a unit of some kind that sits in the cabin that he can change the settings with.

I know, of course, that Bullydog themselves do not make a chip for the Civic, but I was curious if you guys knew of any chips that gave similar control. I don't have an automatic Civic myself, but I've always been curious if there were these kinds of upgrades for those that do, because that chip makes a pretty big difference in the performance of my uncle's truck.

Thanks in advance.

things like that dont work with honda's. you actually need to tune the ecu to get results.

Ecu tuning is all you can do.

Ok. So I guess for that all one would need is a chipped ECU and Crome? Or is that kind of tuning what requires a professional?

You can learn how to do it yourself.

Cam and timing tuning isn't that hard. Just advancing retarting the cams.

I mean for the transmission part, though. Does Crome provide an interface specifically for adjusting how the transmission shifts?

You can't adjust transmission shifts with some rediculous chip. It's a fixed gear ratio made of metal. There are no electronic parts in the transmissions besides the VSS (used to determine speed) and the Reverse Gear Sensor (to turn on backup lights and send a signal to the ECU).

I don't even understand how this "Bullydog" thing works ... it's got to be for a CVT automatic.

If you don't believe me then look at http://www.bullydog.com and see for yourself. Maybe these kind of adjustments aren't applicable to Honda automatic transmissions, and I'm not saying they are, but it definitely made a difference in my uncle's Ford truck. It shifts significantly faster and harder than before.

Sure you can, if the transmission is computer-controlled. The original poster was not aware that Civic transmissions are mechanically-controlled instead.

Missouri_Civ, check out Level 10 if you're interested in performance upgrades for your automatic transmission.

I was speaking about the transmissions relevant to the section he was posting in. I'm aware that there are computer-controlled transmissions, but we just don't have them.

Okay, it just might have been helpful to specify so that the original poster could understand the distinction, especially since you went on to state that you couldn't understand how the unit would work on anything except a CVT.

I was stating that I couldn't understand how it'd work on Civic transmissions other than the CVT (which is still mechanical, but has various sensors).

Sorry for the confusion, I was just talking about 92-00 Civics.
