problem annoying noise help please
hey guys, dont post quite often but read a lot and now looking for some help regarding the following.
the car is a 96 4dr LX (canada ) witha y8 head. the actual motor runs great but i think i may have a problem with my clutch. whenever i put the pedal down, it sounds like there are some metal pieces bouncing around. this is quite possible since i did learn to drive standard on this car. however, it seems to do this noise event in neutral although much less noticable.
i hear it mostly when the engine is under full load with the window down.
i also know that my shfit linkage might be loose and is makes a shaking noise under load as well.
any input would be much appreciated.
thanks again

Sounds like it could be the throw out bearing or input shaft bearing. Noises are hard to pin point over the internet without hearing it.
Might have to go under your car and tighten up your linkage or change your bushings.

Change out your tranny fluid, maybe add some Syncro-mesh, see if that makes things a little quieter. If not, then your entire trans needs to be replaced. Its not a big deal, D series trans are a dime a dozen
il try changing the tranny fluid next week when im done school. finding a tranny isisnt hard but its replacing it thats more complicated... might as well change the clutch while im at it i guess

Yea, tranny's can be a bitch. word of the wise, its much easier to just pull the motor when doing both trans and clutch, given you are doing it yourself, and you have the tools ( motor-lift, ect). If not, its totally do-able while its in the car, just takes a little more time.
If your planning on replacing your clutch, i would upgrade to an Exedy stage one, or an ACT

You can get oe replacements for under $100.
If you want a good setup you can spend $200 for a basic upgrade.
Most honda specific shops will do clutch installs/tranny swaps for ~$200.
I've had two differen't clutches done and one was swapping in an ex tranny with new input shaft bearing and throwout bearing, and all that only cost $206.
