Default Good Launch for drag strip

i have an 05 RSX type S.. i was wondering what RPM will be a good take off launch..my dad just barely bought this car so im just getting used to it.. cant believe how much torque this baby have.. haha..well let me know wat is a good rpm launch. thanx

well it all depends what track your at and what kinda tires you got. if your tires suck then try to stay around 2-2,50. new or better tires i go around 3,500. just don't drop the clutch cuz then your tires will break and you will have a horrible launch. good luck at the track!

Right. And/or you'll have a bunch of wheelhop, which is just really bad for the whole drivetrain (since, after all, the entire wheels-axles-transmission-engine package will be shaking pretty violently).

I got my best 60' times in my EP by revving to around 4500 or so and feathering the clutch & throttle for just a bit while the tires found traction. I didn't load the clutch& hold it with the e-brake at the line, though, like some people do (I want my clutch to at least last a little while).

5500.... right off the awesome built in 2 step we have....

oh yea a TD or MM might be a good idea if your going to do that...

Yeah, but for '03 models and up -- my 2002 EP didn't come with it..

i drop my tires down to 12 psi and launch between 4000 and 4500

not sure why you say 03 and up don't have it the 5500 2 step... my RSX is an 04 and it has it

You misread my post -- my '02 EP doesn't have the 2-step launch control, but they added it starting with the '03 models.

I launched at 5k rpm on stock tires...first time drag racing and ran a 15.1 with an intake

you'd be surprised a lot of ppl do launch that high, tuned with slicks of course
