I changed my pcv valve on my car, and used carb cleaner to clean my TB. now the idle fluctuates. it revs by itself. whats wrong with my car?!? its a d16z6 motor.
Do you have a CEL? I think the carb cleaner messed up the tps or map sensor. If its the the IACV, you might be able to clean it if thats the problem but usually wont throw a CEL.

It's located behind the IM, there are 2 bolts...pull the screen out and spray carb cleaner on it to clean it.

It also has 2 hoses attatched to it. Remove the hoses after you remove the 2 bolts (12mm i think). Clean it up and let it dry before reinstalling it and make sure you dont lose the ruber gasket.
I had a indling issue once upon a time (a couple weeks ago) but it was my damn jumper harness

can you elaborate on "revs by iself"?
does it do it at idle? upon deceleration?
i'd say 1st things first...double check all of your vaccuum hoses.
if there is a hose that is supposed to go to the intake manifold the engine will tend to rev on it's own.

Sounds like a typical vacuum leak.
OP: When you replaced the PCV valve, did you reattach the hose from it to the intake manifold?
Hopefully yes. If not, try spraying carb cleaner around where you took components off and put them back on. If idle is affected when you do so, you have a vac leak there.

when i idle, "sometimes my tach goes up a little by itself and goes back down and up again." i checked all the hoses all good nothing wrong with them. reatached all the hoses. im going to go through all the steps again and see if something went wrong.

ok...between what rev range???
like i said double check all your hoses and the area where you were servicing...if that doesn't bear any fruit...double check your coolant level. if you have a low coolant level or bubbles in your coolant lines it will tend to screw with your IACV or the FITV making your idle surge...this has been covered more than a few times on HT.

i am haveing tha same problem...i dont kno wut rpms ist at since i have a dx with no tach...but at idle of went i am rolling but holding the cluch down....the rpms fluctuate up and down constantly...i just clean my IACV and then went on to put a different IACV in and both times the revving continues...should i clean my FITV????

Are YOU sure you sure you dont have any type of vaccuum leak?

dam the problem came back, and now im more lost then ever on whats wrong. it doesnt always do it, like today when i was driving, alla sudden on the free way when i put it in nuetral it started to rev itself. and when i got home i left the car on and it just kept going from 1k-1.5k rpm. dont know what could possibly be wrong. any suggestions?
similar thing happened to me once and i spent 700 bucks getting it fixed, but it turned out it was just a grounding wire which was semi inexpensive.
