Default inc possible noob questions

i'm getting a grinding sound(metal on metal) when i turn my wheel all the way and reverse.I asked driveshaft.com and they said it's probably wheel bearings or something like that.

what do you guys think?

the car is a 1988 honda crx si and the sound is coming from the front left wheel area.

what is that part called? are they called hubs? cause i searched google and i get different parts

It may sound silly, but check your lug nuts and see if they are loose. If you find them a little loose, then you will be binding your disks in the pads.

Otherwise, check your bearings first. Then check back and let us know.

... lol yeahh thats also true but not usualy the case unless there was an idiot behind the wrench tightening the wheels but that would also cause major vibrations and shimmy in the steering wheel...

heyy also does the car make the noise when going foward either taking off or just driving?

lugs are good...it rolls smooth then if i turn the wheel all the way left or right i hear some grinding.

i'll try to check it out in the morning. i guess if you can wiggle your wheel and there is play then the bearings are bad or something.

correcto... if it wiggles from puting a hand on top and bottom of wheel and you can shake it... it needs a wheel bearing or possible hub replacement

EDIT: scratch that lol its just gonna need a simple wheel bearing

only if the wheel is all the way??? i had the same prob, (if your tires are new/oversized w.e.) it was the wheel rubbing on the inner fender... check that...
