Default A-Arms

I have a buddy that just replaced his A-Arms with some new adjustable ones and he is wondering how tight the bolts need to be at the anchor points where it attaches to the chassis. Right now, they are loose enough to where you can move them up and down easily by hand. He states that you can actually tighten them up enough to where they won't move by hand anymore, but wonders if the cars weight would be enough to move them.

Question is: How tight do those bolts need to be in order to be correct? Are there torque specs for those that anyone can post here?

I assume you are referring to an upper control arm? And you are asking how tight #14 (in the diagram below) is supposed to be?

You didn't list what car this was for so I'm going to say it should probably be around 45-50 lb-ft.

I'm not sure if he is referring to #14 or not but I am wondering the same question for these bolts

Would you happen to know how tight these ones are supposed to be. I have just received the L & R upper control arms for my 96 and the left pinion bolts are tight as hell and the right pinions both swing freely????

It doesn't say anything in my manual about these bolts.

I'm not sure, I didn't see anything in the Helm manual on that nut/bolt.

So weird. The Haynes told me the torque specs. (even though many people said Helms is better) Anyways just to be sure on the safe side heres what is says.

Upper control arm assembly to body mounting bolt=47
Upper control arm pivot bolt=22
Upper control arm ball joint nut=32
*all in FT. LBS

hmm... oh well. Maybe I over looked it, maybe they just don't list it. But the Helm manual is better. I'm going to guess you haven't looked at one, cause once you do, you'll see why there is no question which one is the better choice.

The one that Ghost Accord just mentioned is the one that I was talking about, yes. Thanks for posting the specs on those, guys! This helps to a great degree
