so I just put an LSD in my 2000 civic si trans and now it wont go into reverse. it will go into 1st through 5th but no reverse. What could be the cause of this. I took pics of everything and put it back together the same way I took it out. I have searched around but I haven't seen anything that is the same.
The only other thing I don't know is if I need to shim the diff. not really sure where it goes what side it goes on if I even need one. I don't even know if it has a shim to begin with unless I just didn't recognize it. Its an obx LSD (I know they are cheap but I got to pay for medical school and an apartment)
any help would be great thanks a lot

What do you mean it wont go into reverse? Like you cant move the shifter into the reverse position and the gear grinds, or like the tranny goes into reverse position like it should but the engine free revs?
Take it back out and pull the case off. Thread a screwdriver through the shift rod and try to manually put the tranny in each gear. Find out where it is binding and go from there, I would think it would be obvious. And always, before putting the tranny back into the car, tip it on it side, so that its oriented like it would be in the car. By hand spin the mainshaft from inside the bell housing and manually work the shift rod to go in every gear. While spinning the main shaft look at the differential to make sure it is spinning in the case. Otherwise you end up removing/installing the tranny a couple of times.

Well I can get it in but it is really hard and once it is in gear it wont come out unless I really force it which I dont like doing. all the other gears work fine no problem first through fifth
When you put it back together did you ensure that you installed the syncros correctly?
One tooth off can cause some headaches and it's easy to miss when putting it all back in.

I never messed with the syncros all I did was remove the shift forks so I could pull the diff out everything went back the way I took it out (or so I thought)

There's no synchros for reverse anyway, its a sliding gear. Can you get it in gear when the engine's off, or is it the same always? A clutch that was dragging slightly might make it hard to shift into reverse b/c of no syncros.
Or you might have put something in wrong.

there is a bolt that goes into the tranny and threads into a pin inside the trans. without that pin being locked into place you wont have reverse. take off the tranny mount the bolt will be there. i know this because i almost had the same problem.
ill try to take a few pics since my trans is just sitting on the floor. good luck

I beleive that gear only fits in one way bc it does havea bolt that goes through the tranny case into the bolt which I had in place. pluse on the bottom of the shaft there is a little pin so both holes get lined up when putting ti back together.
like I said b4 it "feels" like it it binding on something but I really am not sure

It appears that you are just going to have to pull your tranny and open it back up.
The bolt thing ^ seems promising but if its binding then you are just going to have to operate again.
