Default Noisy Valves??

I just had the car in the shop less than a month ago with a brand new rebuild. Car runs great but im wondering if Hondas are known to be a little noisy in the valve train area. They are new valves and seals, and were adjusted by a very well known shop. This noise comes at anything about 700 rpms and higher, but when the car warms up, you can not hear it. Is it normal for the noise because of it being cold? Or do I need to contact the shop. I am positive it from the valve train too.

Thanks Guys and Girls

Sounds normal. I hope they did the valve adjustment after the car sat over night. But most cars will make noticable clicking/very light tapping sounds from the valve train when the car is cold. After its warmed up, it usually goes away except for some new cars with noisy lifters.

Is it overdue for an oilchange? That may reduce the noise it makes. As any honda motor, it will make some form of noise in the head when its idling.

yeah sounds very normal, even for a stock motor, especially when warming up. just part of owning a honda.

Oil change was just done. The noise goes away when its warm. Only modification is the intake. It is a GSR block with a b16 head if it makes any difference...

I assume they set the lash when the head was rebuilt. Now that it is broken in, the valves may need to be adjusted again.

You should also ask what settings they used to adjust the valves.

yes see what they adjusted the valves to stock if im not mistaken is 19/17 i usually adjust my stock heads to 13/13 this gives the best output on a stock head with stock cams but just check with them plus the fact that everything is new its still breaking in but **** all hondas have valvetrain noise

not sure if injectors can be loud enough to mimic noise valves, the clicking is kind of a different intensity.

is it a d-series? i find those are a little noiser than most b-series, which i assume is because of the rocker arm design, although it may all be in my head. Also you should get in the habbit of adjusting valves when the timing belt comes off as well, there was some theory behind this that i forgot.

Its a b18c1 with a b16a2 head. Its normal noise I belive. It goes away when warm. They are a well known place and all work is warrentied. So if anything happens, its on them!
