Ok. I have a 1994 Civic EX with a JDM GSR swap. The car won't start. Thought it was the battery. Got it charged yesterday. Everything in the car works fine. The lights, radio, windows, everything- all work. But the engine won't start. When I turn the key, it doesn't click or try to turn over or anything.
I got my starter checked today. They said it was bad. I put a new one on. It's doing the same thing. I really have no idea what else it could be. Something to do with the clutch maybe? I don't know. Please help.
TIA
-Matt

Check all your wire grounds, and make sure they are all properly connected on the wiring harness. A bad ground would keep a starter from turning, while everything else is working. It would also be a good thing to check all the fuses in the engine bay fuse box.

I've checked all the grounds I can find. They're all fine. And I checked all of the fuses under the hood. They're all fine as well. Thanks for the ideas.
where did you buy the new starter? Its possible to buy a new one thats already junk. Could be neutral safety switch (clutch) or the line from the key ignition to the S terminal( the wire on the starter which sends power to the solenoid). The starter grounds thru the block. Since you checked all of the grounds you can find i.e. the big *** strap on the transmission, its gotta be power side.
Hmm, well, make sure the starter is bolted in correctly, because if it isnt making contact with the flywheel, its obvious that it wont start, but keep in mind, unless if your in a quiet environment, you cant hear the starter when its engaging (speaking of when its not making contact with the flywheel). Same thing happened on a friedns SOHC swap, we didnt get the Starter in correctly, and we had no idea why it wouldnt crank, turned out the starter wasnt in all the way. We coudlnt hear it at all

I got the starter from Autozone. *puts on flame suit* I think I'm going to take the new one up there tomorrow and get them to test it.
Also, I'm getting a new cluth switch from Honda tomorrow because my dad thinks that's the problem.
Thanks for the help.

the same thing happened to me, i put a jdm b16a in my 94 ex coupe. and my car wouldn't start, crank or anything. i checked for voltage at the distributor and everything checked out fine, but someone told me that the coil in the distributor usually causes the car not to do anything. i was told to replace the coil and the ignitor, but i only replaced the coil and it started right up, i would recommend you start with that. usually if a starter is bad it would make a clicking noise, until it catches with the flywheel. hope that helped, good luck.
