That's not real. That's a Mugen knockoff with a fake R badge.

It's worth about the urine it'd take to put it out if it was on fire.

I wouldn't necessarily go that far. Depending upon the cost (which most likely isn't much), it could be a decent inexpensive alternative to something like the Comptech Icebox, which performs very well. Pair it with a quality filter and some ducting, perhaps even with a velocity stack at the inlet, and it should actually produce good results.

Value and worth are different. It may be of great value if recoated with some trim paint, and remove that silly badge. But as for monetary worth, it's about as much the plastic it's cast out of.

It's not a rare "JDM" part, and I believe that's what he was asking.

I suppose that's an issue of semantics. An AEM SRI isn't worth much more than the current price of aluminium and a filter. By the same token, the Comptech Icebox could only really be considered "worth" more than this unit because of the presumably higher R&D costs that went into it (though I'm not certain how much actual testing went into the design versus simply creating something to fit in the desired location), and perhaps arguably better materials and production quality.

That being said, you're correct that it is neither rare nor JDM, and is indeed not even an actual CTR part. However, I think he was simply curious how much the part would cost him. I don't recall the exact pricing, but they were being sold on eBay a while back and I believe they may have been somewhere around $50-$60.
