CTR air box, CAI
CTR, OBD1 conversion, stock exhaust manifold, test pipe, WS2, ECU mapped to nearly stock B16B specs by Phearable.
I had my Comptech intake on it and VTEC engagement was choppy and harsh until about 7-7200K and then it would open up. Put on my stock airbox with K&N filter and it was perfect. It runs great! So obviously thats what I'm running. I like it, the enging compartment looks clean, no worries. Why is this though. Is the stock tune not used to more airflow? I was told the CTR runs best on its stock tune so thats where I have it set with the exception of a 5K launch and 8500 shift light and 8800 rev limit. Any thoughts?

Like you, i plan to run a stock air box setup on my EM1 with a B18C5 swap....it will work good that way, not be too noisy, and i don't care about the 4hp difference between it an a after market intake.

stock= colder air too. i always root for stock box with a k&n drop in on just about any vehicle. hot air intakes are FTL and true cold airs just don't cut it with crazy oklahoma weather, might rain at any moment and then you're vacuuming the street of water.
