Default *RANT* God Damn progress rear sway!

Grrr, as many of you know i bought a progress rear sway/adapter kit for my 01 LX.

I AM PISSED RIGHT OFF.

Lately ive noticed the car has been making unusual sounds in corners, and i have lost a bit of the solid feel i had back when i 1st got my rear sway.

So today i thought id just take a look under my car to see what was the deal.

It seems that one of my brackets that hold on the bushings SHEARED CLEAN OFF. I not only have 1 bracked holding my sway bar on... sadly i do not have time to do the smart thing and remove the sway bar, as I have 3 midterms this week.
So i will have to baby the car to school and back tomorrow, and spend another hour or so tearing it apart while I take picture, and write a note to progress to send me another bushing.

Another **** off, is for the adapter kit you are supplied with a bolt that has a self seating thread end, that you must drill a hole for and insert the female thread end, before u can install the bolt.

Now this female end is stuck in its hole, and i will probably have to drill it out before i can install a new piece. At the time i thought it was a hokey solution to the problem, and my guess is this bolt failed leading to the eventual failure of the mounting bracket.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

the bracket should be pretty much the same as the OEM honda one, so you could just pick one of those up from honda on the cheap... then just find a bolt to put back in there.

I just called progress to follow up on the email i sent them yesterday.

The guy told me he has never seen this before ( obviously the bolt is garbage as Boje had the same thing happen). They are shipping me out a bolt and new bracket for $10 with one day mail.

I must say, although i am not 100% happy with the bolt, they handled it very well, and were very nice on the phone.

And for AcuraFanatic, that may be true, but Eibach does not make an adapter kit for Em2's without an OEM rear sway. The bolt that broke(and i am lead to believe was the reason why the bracket broke) was included in the adapter package, so there was no choice but progress for my sway.

Didn't mean to hate, I haven't owned either, just going by others.

Glad you got the situation resolved

vantage.....what is the phone number........I can not email them because it wants a whole S**t ton of stuff from me because I live in southcarolina....it would help me out a whole lot.I am not saying that the sway bar and the bracket are bad, because .........

1.I think the bolt came out a couple of days ago.....and it is still hanging on after me still hiting up some turns.

2.My friend in florida got Progress aswell, and he put it on upside down, and road around for about a week before he relized.......he bent both lower control arms......but the sway bar was not even bent....and barely scratched to add to that.

When I get the new bolt, I am going to use that lock tight stuff so I dont have to worry about it again. It took me proably about 50 more tourqe pounds to get a bolt off with the lock tight stuff then with out it(on a house project).

They make a great products........I just think they just need to spend alittle more time on engineering the bolts.

Do the instructions ask for welding the brackets to the sub frame? I've got a Progress bar on both my 98 Prelude and 89 Civic, on both cars the brackets are welded.

Hmm,
yeah I don't like those self tapping screws either.

I have an older model car with a progress rear sway , and absolutely love it.

But yeah, the nutsert/selfseating piece really isn't that great. I opted not to even install that on mine, Just went to home depot and grabbed a nut/bolt/washer.

I think they give you the nutsert because it's easier to install, you don't have to reach back behind/inside your subframe to tighten it...

Just spend alil extra effort and you'll have a wonderful swaybar imo...

Im just about done school ( finals this week) then im gunna spend some time maknig sure it all works properly.

I have figured out what im gunna do.

Drill out the insert just big enough to fit a nut in the hole, then use that instead. Should be a hell of a lot stronger, plus i dont have to worry about that part breaking.

good plan,
that's what I did(though i didnt have to drill anything), have had no problems with it at all.
I even hoped up a curb and smashed my swaybar bracket once; all it did was bend the bracket, everything held and has been fine ever since

Are u getting the adapter kit too?

The only reason i need to go through all this extract work, is because my car didn't have a stock rear sway bar, so i had to buy the adapter kit.

Hopefully in a week or so i will have everything figured out, and ill try to take pics of my work.
