skunk2 shift knob...what to do with boot?

Default skunk2 shift ****...what to do with boot?

I recently purchased a skunk2 shift **** for my car and was wondering if anybody had any good ideas on what to do with the OEM shift boot because its got that damn plastic peice on the top that attaches to the old ****. Thanks fellas.

you can use a rubber grommet and zip tie to keep it up

that sounds interesting. Id have to see some pics to see exactly what you are talking about. Im not sure if i can remove that plastic peice but i was thinking about just taking that off and folding the boot into itself and putting something on the inside to hold it in place like a zip tie or something. But to do that i would have to take apart the console and for some reason everytime i take something apart i end up breaking it. heh

the plastic piece is removable. its ziptied to the boot. what i did and what most do is to flip the plastic piece around. you dont have to take apart the whole console, just that top part. follow these steps: open the secret compartment to expose cupholders. reach for the top part of the console (its where the secret compartment clicks into). now yank gently but firmly and it will come out. thats all there is too it. oh remember to remove the shift **** first

I bought a type r 6 speed shift **** and cut the plastic piece and the zip tie off with a razor blade

Just slide the stock plastic ring over the locking nut for the ****. that's how i did mine.

a member on CRSX is making shift boot adapters, they're pretty nice...they're CNC machined and its only $14 shipped
