Clutch + tranissions insatll strange noise AVI attached.
Ok car back together, I have a problem. Car is on, clutch pressed its fine.. when I release the clutch it starts to make a whining sound AVI file attached. I took it for a quick test drive all gears go in fine clutch grips fine, the only problem is that noise. Any one? WTF could this be..

Anyone?? I should have put in some more info.
I had some transmission problems so I got a used transmission and installed a new clutch. The sound only happens when I release the clutch. When the clutch is pressed its fine, when driving in gear the noise seems to match the RPM of the engine. I did some looking and it sounds like it could be the input shaft bearing in the used transmission that I picked up?

lol you answered you own question man, i was gonna sk you if you checked the input shaft, but i guess you didn't you may need to pull it apart again and install some new parts my friend, when you installed it did you align it properly? i mean the clutch
Yes I used the clutch alignment tool, the clutch seems to grip fine. When I pull out the trans how can I test the bearing, uhhh man this is the worst possible news.
Ok after finding out this bad news I started to rip the transmission apart and I’m going to install new bearings. I plan on changing all the bearings and oil seals. I have a few questions about shimming, when I change the bearings will it be necessary to check the clearance and get new shims? I ripped the trans apart and put it all back just as a test run I still have not sealed it. I dont get what the want to check in the picture below, (B)the shaft will rest on a bearing so do they want the clearance from the washer to the bearing? Its going to be nothing as the shaft presses on the washer before hitting the bearing. Then the (C) clearance, do I install the bearing in the housing with no shim and then measure and pull the bearing out and install the new shim?

Also what other locations should I check for clearance, and is there anything ells I should be looking for or testing before I seal it back up and re-install? A few pix of the work so far
Just a FYI this is a LS transmission that I got from a friend, as you can see in the pictures the bearings popped into the transmission and you can see most of them all over the magnet, so I’m using this transmission as a tester to get used to it and then I’ll start with my GSR..

Ok I have the transmission out and apart, how can I make sure that its the main shaft bearing? I took the bearing off the main shaft and it feels like it had some sand it in when I spin the bearing in my hands, but it has no missing bearings from the inside.
Also when I change the main shaft bearings should I change any other ones like the differential? I took out all the gears and the diff seems to spin nice and easy.

Wow, my magnet looks just as bad if not worst. Check it out at:

My main bearing went. The input shaft bearing is ok.
If it feels like sand, it's time to replace it.
I was putting the tranny back together when I spun the differential bearing at the back (there are two of them, the one you can see when you crack open the case and the one on the other side). Well, the one on the other side feels like it has sand in it and it binds slightly. So I'm going to replace both of them. Damn, another $50 and I'm going to have to pull out the main and countershafts again. Another two hrs of work I guess, but better than having to pull the tranny out again if it goes bad later.
