What would 20w-50 do????
low oil pressure i think pump is going bad and i was told that it would bring pressure back up some.....oil pressure is at 8-10 psi at IDLE!!! just need it to hold over tell i get alittle more $$
i think your best bet is to keep it full of oil all the time and drive like an old lady. i could see the change to the wrong oil backfiring and costing you more money in the end.

He said doing this may not work out like you want it to.
Bottom line if your oil pump is going out, thicker oil is not going to help. During cold startup, thicker oil will cause the pump to strain harder to move that thick substance.
Replace oil pump. Couple hour project, hell, while your at it, replace timing belt if you haven't recently.

what motor is this I know that the factory spec on the d16z6 has a min oil pressure of 10 psi and should be a min of 50psi at 3k rpm it sound like you are right there and if your idle is a little low you would have a lower pressure

1. You would have more wear when you start the car, thinner oil is able to lube the engine faster and the engine will have to work less hard, thats why honda recommends 5-30 and not 10-40.
2. The thicker weight at the higher temp will decrease not only your fuel economy but also make you lose power because its just so freaking thick!
3. Thicker oil does not always mean better protection if it does not flow properly the surfaces that experience friction.
4. If you want the best oil, get AMSOIL $8 a quart. Or Mobil 1 Synthetic. $6 a quart. Thicker oil will not do you any good on a Honda Engine, unless you converted to diesel in that case you should use DELO.
