Default H22a or B16a

I have a '94 Honda civic 4 door LX and I am trying to choose between swapping a H22a or a B16a into it. What would you recommend? Thanks for any help guys.

Before you get flamed because this question has been discussed time and time again, please answer a few questions... How much money do you have to spend right now, what is the car going to be used for (ie DD, Auto-x, Drag), and what sort of HP numbers are you looking for?

Sorry about not searching before posting but its going to be used as a daily drive and just some street racing on the weekends lol. I was looking at some used H22a's and I can get one for around 2,000 so money wise some where around there. As for HP I would like around 200 HP, I also plan on turboing whatever I get in the near future.

Are you only looking at the B16 or H22? An H22 with H2B (H motor to B series trans adapter plate)? would be nice but would probably run around 4k after all is said n done (2k motor + 1k H2b + install and misc). If you would like to go turbo you could pick up an OBD1 LS (B18B) w/ trans for pretty cheap and even piece together a turbo get to get the desired 200hp you would like for less than the 2 options you have stated.

In my opinion if you plan on turbo, then i definatly would go with the b16 because h22 are awesome but not really good for boost.

ls boost... you'll never be let down. and h22's are good for boost. it's all in the build and in the tune.

Thanks for the advise guys. I have decided to go with a b16 and I will put a turbo on it shortly after. One last question though, is the B16a1 going to be a direct bolt-in? Or am I going to need new mounts and axles and such?

h22 is better but b16 is cheaper and easier to install
