It just started doing this yesterday and baaad today. Upshifting is fine, slides into place no problem, but when i downshift it doesn't wanna go into place and when i finally get it in there (sometimes i have to work it), it makes a soft grinding noise. It only does it when downshifting so it kinda baffles me. I thought when synchros went out it grinded no matter what? Any help?

 

Could be the clutch giving you a problem not the transmission. What RPM are you at when you downshift?
