i think i want an SV650 after this last week end
this last weekend i traded bikes with my friend for about 30 miles. hes got a 2001 ZX-6R which i would had a boring power band but was SOOOOOO much fun in the twistiest. I haven't owned a real sport bike in almost 2 years now so i guess now that ive actually learned to ride im having more fun with one. We found a unpopulated clover what was amazing! i was wearing riding pants but they didn't have a pucks though i was able to get my pants to scrape the asphalt. I REALLY WANT TO GET A SV650 NOW! as soon as i get to England i may end up selling my bike for one of those. i haven't ridden on the track yet but im beginning to understand why you guys here in HT say its so great. They have an amazing track here "mig America raceway" where you don't kneed a license but just your average track day is $375. This was confirmed by the Ducati shop of Omaha.
i'm confused too. You rode a ninja and it made you want an SV?
While i'm happy to welcome someone else to the SV addiction, i don't get the context.
you should check out svrider.com
check out this thread for some of sickest SVs out there.

That's a load of crap. NESBA can get you on track at Mid-America for $120/day. Go to http://www.nesba.com/info/trackevents.aspx and filter by Mid-Central region. Seriously, all you need to do is tape up your lights, take off your mirrors, put fuel in the tank, make sure everything is mechanically sound, and you're ready for a track day. You can even go on track with NESBA in the "Intro Rider" group (morning sessions only) for free I believe and the gear requirement is jacket, helmet, gloves, boots, and either textile pants or two pair jeans. you can only do Intro once I think.

this is what the people at the Ducati place said. I need to have at least a 2 piece with full length gloves and all the other stuff. DOT & SNELL. Oil filter and drain plug need to be safety wired and something about a drain down and fill up but im not sure what that means. I've never herd of a track charging this much so i don't know what to think.
All I was trying to get at is that i miss sport bikes and yeah.

I knew this before but now I've really got to put it to the test. the bike i have now, 03' 919 has far more power then is capable of being used in the corners. that as opposed to the ZX6 is fun for every day but carving the corners trumps any kinda fun i could ever have in a straight line.

Believe me and not the dealer, I've already done 6 track days with NESBA and am quite familiar with their rules. Also, you ONLY have to safety wire and switch from coolant to water/water wetter if you are in ADVANCED. Think what I'm telling you is right.

Text pants? The danger also lies in your knee catching on the asphalt because of the textile/leather.

everything looks good except that laser exhaust.
You should not, under any circumstances, get that laser exhaust for the SV. It adds weight, and actually makes less power than stock, according to THEIR dyno.
At most without the baffles it make stock horsepower.
This isn't to say that other slip-ons make alot more power, but at least they save weight.
Most slipons for the SV are for the sound since none of them really increase power. A full system might net you a couple ponies.

What about the holeshot exhaust? That seems like a rather decent exhaust. All this talk about SV's is making me want to get one again. I decided I wanted a FJR but I still have a sweet spot for the SV, since it's a bike I've wanted for a long time.

ive never ridden one but i would like some insight from those of you who have ridden them on the track. What do you guys have to say about them? how would you compare them to other bikes you've ridden on the track?
