that **** is hard. for me, i barely hit the line. my bike was so jerky in first gear that it was tough getting a smooth ride. just remember, look where your trying to go. cant you retake it though?
yeah, I am not sure when though. Yea the bike was all jerky it was a nighthawk 250, did you use the same? Eh, I hope my bike fits in my moms van so I can go practice

dont they allow students who fail the first time to retake it the next week or something?
just trust in the bike and look all the way through, the bike will follow. if you have to put your footdown then do it, they'll just dock some points off but everything else should be a breeze right?

I don't know why, but that is the hardest exercise for me.

did you try shifting your weight to outside when you made the turn? i also heard dragging the rear brake a lil bit helps too.

my friends mother took the course, somehow she flipped over backwards while lining up for the start....her friend passed because he followed the ambulance to the hospital.

next time, dont use the throttle in the turn. if you ease off of the clutch, the bike will go slowly by itself.
if you need help practicing, just let me know. we can work on it sometime in the afternoon.
yeah, I sometimes had trouble going through that as well (ninja 500).
my instructor told us, however, that it wasnt mandatory to pass the figure 8 since it wasnt considered a life-saving maneuver.

That's not the point of doing it. You're supposed to learn how to drag the clutch and only use a the power you need.

In NY you can't fail from the figure 8 alone.</TD></TR></TABLE> here its an automatic failure.

try it in 2nd gear, it was real easy for me when i did it this way... before you start turning, shift to 2nd and hold the gas a little for the whole exercise... that way, the bike isn't jerky because you still have power going to the rear wheel... also, make sure you look where you want to go (turn your whole head) and use your body weight... hope this helps...
when i had my bike i used the throttle, i only suggested the op using 2nd since he said the bike was being jerky. im thinking maybe because he's not use to the throttle at low speeds? iono i remember my msf teacher telling us that while i took my test, which was a long long time ago lol.
