Default SOHC VTEC or LS Swap?

i need some help. i got a 88 ef civic hatch dx. i want to do a engine and tranny swap but i dont know which should pick. i got a choice between a sohc vtec or a ls motor. im looking for one to give me a lot of power and maybe add a turbo down the line. if anyone could help me on which is better and maybe a good setup, that'll be great, thanks

I would go with the b18. I had a sohc zc (non-vtec) and the differance was amazing. Its a better swap in my opinion. It will cost more because you need mounts and shift linkage, but i got the whole setup for $1,500.

All depends on how much work you want to do? Is this going to be a street only car? How much money do you want to spend?

There is some great info and everything you will need to know on a B swap up in the FAQ at the top of the page.

I would do the LS. Much better platform to start with and a great motor to boost, with lots of aftermarket support.

If your on a tight budget, stay with the D.

It sounds like, either way, you are going to switch to 0BD1, so get the B.

on the LS, costs a little more but you get more

ohh yea and if you find an engine without a tranny get a b16 cable tranny the match up is great

Stay with the D, try to find a cheap Z6 or Y8 and get some vitaras from FJT, and eagle rods. get a custom turbo kit, boost 6-7 PSI and get a good tune.

Turbo D

I would agree that is what i am running and it pulls a hell of a lot harder than my brothers old ls crx did.
