Default High beam issue

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So today I was riding and it started raining... Socked myself too... anyways, now I go out at night and see that the high beam is not on/working... Like everything looks good in the gauges is just that the actual bulb wont turn on. What can it be? I know is out. I know it had to something with the water... but water shouldn't be able to get in there or maybe a loose wire(which i really doubt, since this happened right after the rain) LMK, thanks

water isn't getting in there. The bulbs on the 600rr are dual filament. Check them out and see if the high beam filament is broken.

How many posts are you gonna make this week?

Well I'm pretty new with bikes so I ask away. Plus is better to ask than to just stay back and wonder the answer, dont you think?

What's dual filament? how do I check if is broken? is it the black plastic thing? thanks

alright. http://www.howstuffworks.com can explain the inner workings of a bulb better than me.
But a filament is a small coil of wire in the bulb that gets super hot and glows. You have two in each bulb, one runs all the time, and the other turns on when you flip the switch.
If the filament is broken it won't work.
You have to look inside the bulb and see if the filaments are intact.
You could still have a wiring problem though. Who knows what the previous owner did.
Look behind the front frairing and try to follow the path of the wires from the headlight bulbs. Make sure they're ok.

I only give you crap because you keep asking 600rr related questions on honda-tech, when 600rr.net is a much much better resource.

But we're undoubtedly cooler than them

What does "Socked myself "mean, is it like "I'm kicking my ***"?

How is the high beam bulb on a RR dual filament? Dual filament means that it is able to light up in two different intensities with the flip of a switch (ie car tail-lights that get brighter when you step on the brakes) The high beam on the RR only lights up one intensity.

Gahh! Brain fart.
The bulbs on my SV are dual filament. I forgot the 600rr rolls around with one eye for each.
In that case, i retract all my previous statements, slap myself, and now say that you probably just have a dead bulb. You can check it the same way i told you to earlier.
