It's pretty straight forward.

First get the freon removed from the system. ( Take to a shop )

Then start removing the lines, compressor and what not's. You will have to take the battery out to remove the line that goes to the firewall.

Is there any way to remove the freon without taking it to a shop?

Ummm yeah but not recommended. sumthin bout messing up the ozone. n-e-ways make sure ur in a vented area place rags around ur front section and then take the cap off the LOW pressure line and stick a flat head in there. When done you may do the HIGH pressure line.

But if you get caught doing this you may get fined and or jailed ( not sure ). Your better taking it to a shop. The safe and LEGAL way to get it done !!!

Im sure that there is a law preventing me from doing this. But i dont think that there is any in there because it doesnt blow cold anyway. The a/c pump is brand new and installed about 5 months ago. I think that a/c freon leaked out somehow.

Do laws stop us from speeding, getting illegal tint, the list goes on so why would a law stop you from doing this?

Does speeding and getting illegal tint affect the atmosphere?

I think not...
