Default So what pads do I need?

I'm looking for some new Pads.

Whats on the car now.

Autozone Rotors, Cobalt Gt's (F & R), Falken 615, Motul 600

Last season (If you want to call a few HPDES that) I boiled the fluid I was using, upgrade to motul. Now Im starting to fade the pads. So Im just looking for something that can handle the heat a little better.

So what do you guys recommend? Spec Vr? or Maybe Carbotechs?

Im only going to be running a few events this year. Expo will be the first .

Yeah I kind a searched but I got lazy and just decided to ask.

I'd personally use the Carbotech pads in XP8 compound, after having driven a SC EP3 with them for hard track sessions, very impressive pads and gave no fade.

I personally use AP dixcel pads and discs all round and they are awesome

Street car, or only track car?

I personally have the Spec VR's on my track only ITR and I love them. However, Cobalt no longer makes the VR's, only the new version which I've yet to hear any reviews on.

Its def a street car. With the Cobalt Gt's I've been driving the car to the track with these pads on. I relaize that I will have to change pads at the track if I use track only pads.

Really what I'm wanting to know is if theres a pad that will match good with my 615's thats not going to fade at the end of the session.

I've had good luck with the Carbotech Panther Plus pads. I use them for street/auto-x/track. I'd like to try a comparable pad by Cobalt, being that they sponsor Expo and all.

Stay away from the Axxis Ultimates like the plague.

My suggestion then, being that it's a street car as well, is change the pads at the track. Bring a set of bedded rotors and track pads. VR's are a bit much on the street. Not a great initial cold bite.

FWIW, I was just at CMP this past weekend. I'm running the 615's on my car and CMP is pretty hard on brakes. I had ZERO fade issues with the Spec VR's with SS lines, ATE super blue fluid and dust cover removed. HTH.

That's odd, because I've had zero problems with fade using the GT Sport pads. The ONLY time I've experienced fade with them is when the pads are brand new, the first couple of sessions when they get good and hot ("green pad syndrome"). After that, no fade at all for the life of the pad. (Tires = Toyo RA-1, Fluid = Motul RBF 600)

I'd run whatever the new version of the VR's is and change them at the track, or before you leave and be careful on the drive over (just in case you break something changing the pads.. like a wheel stud/lug)

I also haven't had fade issues with GT Sports, but I was boiling some fluid so...

I really need to get off my *** and change the fluid in the S2K, I'll do it when I do the tranny/diff change in the next few weeks

in lou of the topic. i have been using carbotech. Bobcats for street/ Xp10's for track. the xp10s even did street duty on the way home from expo 6. my friend purchased panther+'s for his CRX which is a weekend driver and is very happy even on the street with them cold.

Ive done many track days with GT-Sports F/R, ATE fluid, and Azenis, and have never had any fade at all. Maybe you are using the brakes too much

Why not check out the new version of the GTSports, they are supposed to have a higher heat tolerance than the old ones.

I tried a set of Panther Plus and didn't like them for street use. They squealed LOUD, way too much for me.

I've heard that before, but I've been driving in them (front & rear) on the Civic all winter long, and they really don't squeal all that much for me. I had the same experience with them on the ITR as well.

he doesnt mind the noise, but i notced they are louder than my xp10's? i was suprised. does it have to do with the bedding process? i would assume the more aggressive pads (xp10) would be noisy as all hell. makes me wonder if they are really doing their job correctly.

No. The purpose of bedding is to distribute the pad material evenly on the rotor, to avoid shudder type vibrations. Squeal is different.

The Panther Plus worked fine for me, on the street and on the track, just squealed too much.
