i have a compustar alarm and i was wonering if that would have any affect on the radiator fans........they are pluggged in and do not work....maybe a fuse for them>? please let me know....thanks
straight wire your fan to your battery with some speaker wire if it doesnt come on then your fan is bad, if not that you need to check your fuses and your under the hood fuses. If that doesn't work test your engine coolant temperature sensor and your fan switch, if there is not any luck there it has to be in the wiring.
those fans do not turn on when your car is on son...its not a v8 lol and its not run with the engine...those engage when your car is actually warmed up and the coolant needs to be brought down to a lower temperature...but with just a radiator acting as a cooling device by itself the fans dont turn on all the time like you think they would...

So what if you've been running your car long enough, lets say an hour, and you park somewhere leaving the car on, should the fans still be running? I accidentilly got water into my rad fan fuse and im not sure if they work or not anymore..

i dont think it will get hot enough if it just sits there and idle...now if you drive it on the highway going 80 they will turn on i assure you of that...if your making hard passes on the strip or running turbo they will turn on...if you get water on an exposed fuse it should be of because there is always atmospheric moisture or rain where i live...

You actually have it backward. In a properly functioning cooling system, air flow thru the radiator is the deciding factor on whether the car coolant temps rise to critical levels or not. When you are sitting still with the engine running and no fans blowing, the radiator has no air flow thru the radiator to exchange the heat.
While you are traveling on the highway, even at 80 mph, massive amounts of air blows thru your radiator providing plenty of heat transfer from the coolant to the air (no need for fans to operate). -- This is with a properly functioning cooling system.

i took out my ac lines and ac tank because they were damaged........but i have really never seen my fans go on........but my car has never overheated either.......my temp guage normally sits below 1/4 of the meter and when it gets hot it sits in the middle........if i am in traffic for long periods of time sometimes the car almost overheats........(per the temp guage) ..............so i am guessing the fans dont work because it overheats while im in traffic, no airflow and its hot.......
the same thing happend to my car one day. i never saw them turn on and when i was in trafic the temp rose and it overheated. id recomend on changingthe fan switch, mine turn on now even the needle isnt halfway.
