Default grease clogged in the sensor from the fuel pump!?

there's some kind of white grease inside the contact points of the sensor. These sensors are from the back fuel pump, where the rear passenger seats. Is it supposed to be there? Becuase my fuel gauge isn't reading properly lately, may be it's not sending any signals because of the greasy stuff.

yes the grease is supposed to be there its called

dielectric grease (sp?) anyways, it keeps moisture out and prevents the terminals from corroding.
