on my 4th gen it was pretty easy. you need to take out the back seats to get the access cover. undo the bolts that hold the cover on, then under the bolts that hold the fuel pump assembly to the top of the fuel tank. unplug the wires and take out the fuel pump, replace it with the new one and go back through the process. i think it took me about 1-2 hrs.

you dont even need to take out the rear seats..... i did it in no time with the seats still in...... a 43 is a Fuel Supply issue i think......

either something in the fuel system or an o2 sensor...... if i remember right...

4th gens have an electric fuel pump that hangs in the fuel tank on an arm that looks a lot like a joint compound gun...... the pump is held in place by a round plate that is under the matting in the trunk. You can either tear out your seats, or tear out your trunk liner and matting to get to it....... it lifts up out of the tank after you remove the bolts.

As for the O2 sensor, when i was throwing a 43 my car would run, then it would bog out after about 3-4 min of driving and surger/cough/bog then throw a cell and then it would be fine........ i replaced the O2 sensor that is on the downpipe just before the CAT and that fixed it......

i hope i have helped....

yes 4g's have electric fuel pumps.... go take out your seats and your rear seat supports. Take off your fuel tank access door. Open your gas tank to for ventilation, and on your fuel rail there is a 10mm bolt to relieve line pressure. Undo the 2P connector on the pump, then undo the banjo bolt. It's gonna spew gas from the line, I put a towel through the fitting to soak up the gas. Undo all the bolts. Pull the pump up and you'll have to finess turning it around and moving the hardline and banjo fittings around. Once you get it out everything else is pretty self explanitory

i think im gonna replace the o2 sensor first and then work from there. i believe that is the problem. since my car actually starts up when it sits for awhile. after like 10-15 mins of driving it will shut off. so hopefully that is the problem. i will let u all know how it turns out. and thanks for all the info.

have you tried just reseting the ECU? I was throwing 3 codes for about a month, and then I decided to check it out to see what it was which was both O2 sensors and the IAC valve, so I cleaned out the EGR and IAC valve, and reset the ECU, and bam, everything seems to be running fine. No codes, no idle bouncing, I just hope that did the trick...Changing the fuel pump is easy, but wait, are you able to start your car? If so, then your fuel pump is fine
