cv joints/ front end work
my cv joints were popping pretty loud so i decided to do the work myself..i bought the two axles and started in...after i started, i decided i did not want to go in again so i bought everything for the front end(ball joints,tie-rods,upper controla arm etc)after looking a little deeper i discovered that only the cv joints were bad on passenger side...i am going to put all new stuff on both sides with the exception of the cv axle on the driver's side(bootsare fine)...my question is...now that i have everything open should i just go ahead and replce the old axle anyway...do the axles have a mileage lifespan(wear out)even if the boots are intact and no leaking...how many more miles should i expect b-4 that axle goes...it's only sixty more bucks and i definitely don't want to go in again and fix that after this...btw the car has 105k miles and runs great...ihope/expect to keep it 5 more years...any advice would be appreciated...thanx...compo1
change it at least you will know that everything is new. plus you will have a warranty if they do go bad. the life span really depends on the driver. unless something gets caught under there and tears the boot.
