You're thinking of an eraser bit and it's easy to burn your clearcoat with it. I wouldn't recommend it. You'll probably be safer with a speed-adjustable drill anyway.
Supplies:
- Hair dryer
- Plastic razor blades (NOT metal ones!)
- Goo Gone or other adhesive remover
- Cotton diaper cloth
- Polish
- Wax
- 2 applicator pads
- 2 microfiber cloths
- possibly brake cleaner, a cotton diaper cloth and a small bowl (and water to rinse)
How to remove pinstripes:
1 - Park car near an electrical outlet (or get an extension cord).
2 - Plug in hair dryer and point dryer towards the section you wish to start on. Let the area warm up plenty.
3 - Now use your fingers to peel the pinstripe off. It will probably mostly come off in small pieces. The plastic razor blades can help save your fingers, which will get very hot and begin to hurt if you use your nails to remove the entire things.
4 - Once you have removed the stripe from that area put some Goo Gone (or other adhesive remover) on the cotton cloth and rub off the left over adhesive.
5 - If the adhesive underneath is very hard, will not come off and is similar to rubber cement, you might need to use something heavier on it. This is when I'd allow the paint to cool (it should have by then). Now spray some brake cleaner into the bowl. Dip the corner of the cotton cloth into the cleaner and soak the pinstripe with it. Rub the adhesive. It should slowly begin to remove the pinstripe. This will probably take some time though.
6 - After the pinstripe is removed, follow up with a polish to even the color out and then a wax to protect the area.

3M Adhesive cleaner and a hair dryer worked for me on Sunday.
Peeled it off and used the adhesive cleaner to get the glue off the car, can barely tell that something was there.

Methods:
1. Hair Dryer
2. Heat Gun
3. Your Fingers (very tedious)
4. 3M Adhesive Remover
5. Rubber Wheel (only if the panel is to be painted)
That should do it
