does anyone know how to remove the end peice of the driveshaft connected to the intermediate shaft? I tried everything hammer, prybar, flathead screw driver. it wont come apart.

 

unclear, do you mean the axle is stuck in the int shaft?

 

the Tripod/Inboard Joint is stuck on the intermediate shaft

 

It’s supposed to be on there. Are you rebuilding there or something?

 

I removed the motor and tranny to paint the bay and do sum motor work and I pulled out the passenger shaft and then I went to take out the driver side but the shaft came out and joint is stuck on the intermediate shaft. I am replacing my shafts cuz they are fucked up

use a slide hammer to pop it out

 

where can u get that? is it a special tool? just so you kno I live in Toronto Canada

 

had that happen once. i took a big set of c shaped vise grips and locked it over the old axle shaft, then hit the vice grips with a BFH. it came out and my hand still hurts to this day lol.

 

ouch thats gotta hurt and tingle lol I just need to get that joint to my rebuilder so I dont have to pay the core charge for my new ones

don't do this on your engine unbolt it and pull the whole shaft out of the tranny

just to be clear only the old axle shat come off that "tripod" stay on. ie lock the vg on the old axle shaft beat, repeat

 

yes the old one came off so I am not worried just dont wanna damage the joint.
