jdm honda crx d15b dual carb
hi i need some info on swapping to fuel injection. i have a d15b dual carbarated motor. the car is from japan its a crx 1.5x also known as a ef6. i want to swap it into a fuel injection like the d16a6. does the intake manifold fit? how much work is required for this. or do i have to swap entire head? or maybe i should go with a vtec head swap. i need some info since i cant really find anything on ppl swapping things into the 1.5x crx. thanks
You will need a whole new fuel tank with pump and new lines. you will need the complete manifold and sensors, along with a complete motor and ecu harness, its easy to go carbed if you were once Fuel injected but to go Fuel injected from carbed is a bitch. Go look on redpepperracing there are a lot of guys who put out big HP #'s with carbs, with a little tweaking you can get more HP then the base fuel injected motor.
seriously?? damn that sounds like a lot of work and money. i just wanted to do something cheap. damn carbs. would you happen to know where i can find a service manual for the carb motor? its my first carb car and i dont know how to tune carbs and stuff.
just grab an 88-91 crx/civic si mpfi intake, resistor box,pm6 ecu and the si/hf injector harness.convert your engine harness & a few wires at the ecu plugs.since your car is a dx you'll need the si/hf distributor also as your dx distributor is missing the crank sensor inside it's distributor.for more info on the wires.go search the web for dx to si wire conversion link.hope this anserw most of your questions.
OK first off...The car is an EF6? Correct. Literaly from japan right? RHD and all. that. So u have no wiring at all for Injectors or an ECU because its carbed...IMO it would be best for u to stay that way. Those carbs can support more power than stock should be webber carbs. They may need to be cleaned and tuned but if you already have them and dont wanna do ALOT of wiring stay away from a vtec headswap....You can upgrade the head to an A6 or a Y7 head both non vtec the Y7 would be better being it has smaller combustion chambers which would up ur compression. Theres a cam made by delta cams you could pickup for it to get some more power as well...But also u will need to tune it or have it tuned whatever by someone who can tune the carbs. Have fun...if u decide to go the MPFI route there will be alot of people that would probably want that carb setup most likely
Crx Jimmy is correct in his post horsekiller has no clue about this subject or the EF6

keep the carbs, carbs are awesome. I <3'ed my carb'ed civic. You can cut and stretch the springs in the carbs for better throttle response, and try sticking in some motorbike aircleaners into the throat's. Sounds mean and means theyre sucking from 360* as apposed to the narrow channel out of the left hand side.
thanks for all the info guys. i have already started doing some work to the engine. i did the motorcycle filter mod and put on a set of headers. too bad its so hard to go fuel injection i would love to have vtec. i have done a b16a swap to my civic before but i sold that car. this is my first carbed car and its pretty interesting. what other mods can be done to carbs? is there any sites on how to do the work and so on?
you dont need a new tank and lines. The lines from an 1 gen can handle the pressure. most people think you need to change them but you dont. The only reason to change them is for alittle more flow. and that would be the return line. the tank can stay. the pump must get replaced by an inline.
go to redpepperacing they do have all the 1st gen help there. Im doing the hardest swap. a d16y5 engine with 90 hf trans. and Im not having all the problems that everyone says. just mounts mainly.

He doesnt have a 1st gen..
I'd stay with the carbs..if you want fuel injection buy a fuel injection crx, they're everywhere
By the awy did you get this car by mistake or not know the 1.5x came carbed?

i didn't get the car by mistake i just didn't know how hard it would be to swap it thats all. After i got the car my friends told me carbs are harder to pass emmissions so i was thinking about swapping it fuel injection.
That's awesome. Theory states that the carbs will give as much fuel as the engine needs, so by doing a VTEC head swap and just having the VTEC ran off a RPM activated switch, you are done! I think it'd be totally cool.
