I had put the key in and went to start the car and absolute nothing, well the dash light came on and it was in the on position but never what seemed like sent the sig to the ecu to start. After a 20 min hissy fit i wiggled the key around and vrooom it started.

ANYTHOUGHTS???

check connections to starter, u could have a faulty starter solenoid.

get it tested and see if it turns every time u put power to it.

 

I was thinking the chip in the key

 

haha, nah, i doubt that highly, i even doubt it's the switch above the fusebox. it's gotta be something with the starter. who u hammering at?? ;x

 

It's either the key, or the battery.

 

everybody put your hammers down before somebody gets hurt........

 

I think there's a recall out for all Hondas/Acuras from '97 to '00 on the Ingintion Key/Switch problem.

I believe it came out on 5/24/02:

Before the engine begins to stall, drivers may notice some have difficulties starting the vehicle. Approximately 186,000 vehicles are affected in Canada/US.

Vehicles affected:
The Honda Accord, Civic, Prelude, CR-V and 1997-2000 Odyssey vehicles, 1999 Acura Integra, TL sedans and 1997-1999 CL coupes.

Can anyone verify this? If this is true I'm thinking about taking ym car to the dealer to have it checked. It seems like my car hesitates to start at times.

i have a 2001 and from time to time my car hesitates a little.........never experienced anything like you though 01PYitr

 

amazingly, my car was diagnosed with either bad keys or something wrong with the immobilizer. the dealer didn't really change anything except make a few copies of new keys reprogrammed and i'm in the trial period of seeing if that helps. anyway, if you guys have a problem starting and the key light starts flashing on and off like mine did, there's something wrong. it should stop flashing along with all the other dummy lights after the initial beeps when turned on...i'd take it to your dealer to check
