Default Smoke..

Every since i replaced the synchro on my tranny there has been a bit off smoke that burns off when i am idle(from under the hood). Actually quite a bit. I really cant figure it out, I thought it could be oil burning off the block (i had tranny fluid and oil get all over my block because of a slight valve cover grommet oil leak i just replaced) But i just degreased the whole bay tonight. The weird thing is i check my oil twice a day..and it does not go down. And there is coolant in the reservoir. I cant figure out what is causing this

Thats the most likely diagnosis, being you spilled trasn fluid all over the block.
Make sure you bolt the VSS back in tightly, if it still smokes, it almost sounds like it could be leaking from there, down onto your exhaust pipe, causing it to come up as smoke.

As for thinking it may be coolant, dont be fooled into thinking that just because there is coolant in the reservoir that your not leaking any. I have had this problem TWICE before. It may be a slow leak, and it doenst take a whole lot of coolant, if leaking directly over the exhaust ( Around the IAC area) to make noticable amounts of steam/smoke come up from under the hood.

Also, if the reservoir is full, that doesnt necesarily mean that its all ok, for some reason when this happened to me my reservoir wasnt filling up the radiator, even tho it was draining rapidly from a broken hose ( i was in my garage, finding the leak by letting the motor run)

The only way to find out what it really is, is to drive it around the block, warm it up a bit, bring it home, pop the hood, and get busy lookin to see what it could be.

Ha,what a stupid excuse for a "holiday". Most people i know who smoke, do it on a daily basis,so i dont see how today is special for them.
