i want to get 300whp and be in the 13sec 1/4mile range.
wassup guys... i want to build an eg hatch. I'm planning on using a b18b1. I was wondering what type of turbo should i use to get 300whp? also... I can get a b16 tranny quite easily... but are they good for turbo? should i get a gsr tranny instead? i don't wanna go vtec so i'll use the stock head. should i use a low compression headgasket? I'm planning on getting it tuned at central florida turbo on crome. should i upgrade the fuel rail, injectors, and fuel pump? I'm looking to go for 13 seconds. I'd like to go even faster. If i get a headgasket, i'll get headstuds as well. while i'm taking the motor apart.. should i install a blockguard? any advice on this build will be very thankful.
yea.. i'm going 3inch exhaust. i was also thinking about putting down anywhere from 10-15psi. what's a good place to purchase charge piping from? i've seen some charge piping on ebay but wasn't sure about it. any suggestions?
you have problems if you have a boosted ls pusing 300 whp in an eg and aren't running at LEAST 13's
and check you inbox, i pm'd you.

so here's a few unanswered questions. my car's going to be a DD and i was wondering what tranny would be good. if i go b16 then i'll have to install a ls 5th gear. i don't think i want to go with the ls tranny. would a gsr tranny be pretty good?

im NOT tring to knock CFT but please drive the distance an see MACE up in gainesville to get your car tuned. i know they make nice cars BUT those are their personal cars i havent heard to many good things from customers
also keep the stock LS tranny if its your DD
also keep the stock LS tranny if its your DD
well the stock LS tranny is ok BUT you could get a GSR tranny and sell your ls tranny so it'll probably only cost you a $100.
a t3/t4 57 trim turbo should get you to 300 whp no problems. get a 3 bar map sensor while you're at it as well.
no need for a blockguard, they are garbage. just do a compression and leak down test to see if your motor is healthy, no need to change the HG if it is. then get a really good tuner, crank up the boost and you should be good for 300whp

well i've got a few friends who go to cft regularly... and they all have good responses. plus cft is local.. i don't wanna go to gainesville to get my car tuned.. then when i need to get it retuned i'll have to drive again.

no you wont get MASE's partially throttle tune
unless most places who only tune full throttle

I have a gsr tranny and love it. ls 3-5th gear suck and i can't stand it, not only are the gears long but the final drive sucks too, your rpms will drop much more in between shifts and you'll fall out of your powerband. a b16 is great for everything but highway. I mean, your engine speed will be higher and you'll have a lower top speed, but you'll get there faster and gas milage won't be bad as long as the car is tuned properly. I would rate them gsr>b16>ls
a little fyi-gsr,ls, and b16 trannys all have the same first gear ratio.gsr's and b16's have the same final drive, but b16's are geared shorter. LS has the worst of both worlds. And despite what anyone tells you, provided you can get traction, shorter gearing=faster acceleration.
and check out this link too, i find it pretty interesting

did you mean, "no you won't. get MASE's partial throttle tune. unlike most places who only give full throttle,"?
Without a load bearing dyno, you can't do a partial throttle tune, however on a load bearing dyno such as a mustang or dynamics, you can. So that could contribute as to why places you've seen only do full throttle tunes, although idk why they wouldn't street tune it instead...

does mase have a dyno? and how much is he charging? i dunno much about mase so i can't downtalk him. i was at cft the other day with my best friends car and it broke like 3 times on the dyno and they helped him out each time. i respect there customer service but i do kno that they charge a lot too.
300whp with t04b 50 trim .48 a/r stage 2 turdblownetics journal bearing, vtec 1.8 b series 3 dp to 2.5" exhaust. stoped at 315whp sae or 327whp std.
should be good to 350 without overheating power kept raising all the way to redline.. at some runs dropped abit after 8200-8400rpm.. with smaller ic pipng (current 2.5") and smaller 2.5" dp it would drop a bit earlier but spooled faster and torque would peak 2k rpm earlier

This may give you some helpful information.... here is a set-up we did on a bone stock b16a:

http://www.av-engineered.com/c...6.htm
It's cutting 7.40's on the 1/8th mile in a full interior EG hatch chassis. I would recommend running a turbo with a .60 E comp housing and a .63 t3 a/r.

thx for all of the helpful info.... i didn't know the ls motor had so much potential. i was opting for gsr turbo but if i can get an ls to do 300 on stock internals then i'm gonna go that route. and replacing ls's are like d series now adays.
