S2000 Glass Window
Hey Guys,
I was just wondering if the S2000 glass window was introduced in 2001 or was it 2002 only?
Thanks

No it was only offered in the 2002 models, I have the 2001 model , it was never even offered as a option because it was invented yet.

MY2002 was the first year to have glass rear windows. 2000's and 2001's and be converted by replacing the top for the paltry sum of $2100 plus labor.
Are you sure? I heard a much lower price than that, i mean you can buy the whole top, brand new for $714 at HandA, and I think it bolts right in, as long as you take your stock one out...and all that is left is the wiring to the defroster lines
PLease correct me if I am wrong, for I plan on doing this soon in my S2000

Have you checked the prices of Honda OEM parts? I'll check tomorrow to see what it runs through my dealership, but 2100 sounds about right. Oh and the defroster install should be about 300. That's what it runs for the hardtop.
714 is for the rear window insert. The top linkage is different to my memory, but don't treat that as gosphel! I haven't done this myself yet.
The defroster wiring is a cinch except on the MY00's. Paying $300 for some a tech to plug in three wires is crazy. MY00's you have to tap the wires instead of using a plug.

So in theory, I can do this myself in my garage if i buy OEM parts from HandA..I would really like to know for sure before I even think about shelling out the cash and attempting to do this.
Is it honestly worth it though? With a Muz mat and some Macgyer's #6 the plastic window is crystal clear and it doesn't fog.
You'll need the latest Helm's manual also. Search on s2ki.com to see if any one has actually followed this through to completion. So far all I have heard is big talk and speculation. The big "if" in my mind is whether the linkage and the four(or is it six?) top motors are the same.

well i do have the latest helms manual, bought it 2 weeks ago..I guess i will wait till some one else actually does it. And I do think it's worth it, no more creases in the window and it will never yellow, it's worth it to me in the long run.
Right now I am looking at my Helms manual, it looks like the cage that stretches and holds the soft-top is exactly the same, the only difference looks like the top itself, with the glass unit, which is one unit, a rear window harness holder, rear window defogger sub-harness,a band, spring, and a cable guide...that is all i can see as the difference...
