Default SPEAKERS too powerful???

Okay, I've heard of pumping too many watts out of the head-unit and blowing your speakers.

But is there a limit as to how much power you can have in your speakers?

Some guy I was talking to said that he had to change his speakers because they were too powerful for his deck...

I dont get it.

BS?

First of all, speakers aren't "powerful". They're rated as to how much power they can handle.

Second, yes there is a "limit" of power. It's called peak power handling.

The guy you were talking to was an imbecile.

If you don't get it, you should start with a site like this: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.....html and learn some things...

I just typed "car audio glossary" into google and that was the first good link that came up. I suggest you try it.

I have installed a few stereos before, which is why I was friggin confused as hell when this guy was saying it...

I called him out on it, and he got big ***** like he knew what he was talking about.

I hate to be biased and believe people off the bat, so I just wanted to run it past everyone before I started tinkering away again! (In combination with informational research I find it extremely helpful to get personal opinions from actual people, as opposed to strictly literate information).

Thanks guys.

i find that most people are dumbs**ts; even people that do car audio for a living. I went to circuit city to get a 12v+ noise supressor for a preamp that i built and he said im making stuff up; he was saying what i wanted didnt even exist.

also i know of some people that worked at best buy and circuit city for a few years and they thought that 15khz was a lower tone than a 300hz tone This is why i always do stuff myself and dont let anyone touch my crap. i have seen some really bad installs since i started installing car audio, it was ridiculous.

so lesson learned, people are dumbs**ts so take waht they say with a grain of salt and do your own research...i learned this a long time ago
