im building up my block and was wondering if these block guard are good. are these the new design that will not overheat? anyone use these before? its kms blockguard.

open or closed decks do not effect cooloing or make any hotspots.

building my d16z6 block with vitara pistons and eagle rods. useing block guard. and boosting.

to be honest with you, ive done several d series blocks with keeping the stock sleeves. but when it comes time for new sleeves or doing a block guard, i would personally take it to a builder.

check up with earl or golden eagle. if you do some research, you will see that they do damn great work.

so you think stock sleeve will do the job?at least 300whp.

all depends on the tune and condition of the stock sleeves. right now the motor im building is stock sleeves bored .020 and shooting for 300whp. no block guard.

ive seen d series handle 400whp on stock sleeves (pink car) but like i said, the tune has a big affect on it.

Full race d series build for pinks ran 30+ psi on stock d sleeves.

Honestly...if you're building for 300whp no need to sleeve the block.

A block guard is alright, however its not necessary. It only supports the top of the sleeve, and still can leave the bottom prone to cracking.

Like I said though, you should def be alright without it. Just have the block checked out at a machine shop, and find out if the cylinders are out of round. If they are, you will need to have it re-bored.

If you do go with a BG, get a Golden Eagle.

Golden Eagle. Their cooling is far superior.

Like I said though, Im not a big believer in BG's. I think the idea for them is right, however as i stated before, it doesnt do anything to provide protection for the bottom of the cylinders.

I would still go for GE if anything.

Im still standing by what I said about how you dont need it.

Do you know to truely install it correctly?

I'm trying for 300+whp or so, not more than 350ish on stock sleeves with 76mm vitaras. No block guard.
