im on ephatch.com but alot of members told me to come here for help as ephatch is full of crap most of the time with engine stuff...i have an 02 ep3 with 82k miles. i have a greddy turbo kit i have not installed yet. everyone says turbo has ALOT of maintence and to go supercharger especially since i have 82k miles. ive heard of people installing greddy kits at over 100k and not having problems. i can trade my turbo for kpro and jrsc-r but would only do that if the turbo is alot of maintence like people say. ive heard its just checking for leaks and changing oil more often. if thats all then ill turbo. one more thing is emissions. i have k100 and have a hondata dealer to tune it. they said with k100 and kpro you shouldnt have problems passing as long as you have a cat. any help is awesome. i know asking these kinda of questions on ephatch only gets you flammed.

 

i had one person im me and say tune with k100 and all is good...since being a noob on this site i couldnt respond...im thinking ill be fine with k100 and a good tune to pass emissions

Yes it is more maintenance but thats just how it goes.

 

no its not a lot for a honda...my focus had 81k and was near end of life. found out how bad ford sucks 1st hand. so many problems. so any other help about the turbo? the guy i was going to trade for a jrsc thought i was going to scam him and backed out

 

I wouldn't supercharge it anyway. But that's just me.

If you want to go turbo, piecing together a setup is the cheapest way to go.

82k is just getting broken in.. what do you mean? Hondas go for 300k miles including the K20A3..

 

yeah going turbo is not as much as what people say it to be. It not going to have more problems than before. It is going to have more maintainace like you said. leak check, turbo check so that your turbo is not crapping out on you and regularly check on oil level and other stuff to make sure your car is not going to mess up. when installed properly and all the parts are good then you shouldn't have to worry. It's not like your going to 500+whp anyways.

 

yeah i thought 82k miles wasnt that much at all for a honda. i always wanted civics for high milage and long lasting. i had a focus before. broke every part possible. but thanks guys. ill probably just go turbo. a well known honda shop in phoenix az will do the install and tune....thanks for your help. i got my k100 yesterday so im set now. just need 1000 for install and tune

 

what about the passing emissions part? i will have hondata...any ideas? i need to pass smog test

if you have your k-pro tuned by a good tuner you should be able to pass the smog test provided you still run all the emmisions components as well.

I wouldn't be concerned with the miles. I've had friends turbocharge 150K+ shortblocks with no problems. If tuned well and conservatively, it won't compromise reliability too much.
