Default this is for all of the d-17 turbo owners!

so how many of you guys slapped a turbo on your d-17 and how many of you are happy with the set up? was the money to power ratio worth it??? so far i had more problems with my set up, and spend more nights at the shop trying to figure out how to get this damn thing running, than driving around and enjoying the turbo

well... to tell you the truth i read all about the D-17 and all the turbo threads about it. i wasnt happy reading that the our civics get the D-series POS... but Turbo-ing it is not much of an option for most. if you reado n civic forums and previous posts on people and thier D17..... you will notice that people would rather save up for a K-swap.. im down 2k because of the police... but i still got 1.6 k$ until i can afford all the min requirements for my K.

also if you read the D-17 Boosting Guide you may see what your problem is...
(no shortcuts, what ever you see on E-bay.... leave it) quoted from someone..... i forgot hehe

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1772982

Supermex has a good guide on getting a 305 WHP d17 if you wana look at that... but i think thats most of its potential as it is.. if you get a K its got the I-vtech haha much better than the reg Vtech in the B series and H series.

in most cases some of the B series Vtech doesnt deliver much at all. but hey i must say if your looking for power you baught the wrong car.... i drove my friends 88 Supra... and man i can feel the power from first to second gear...... take note my car is a 01 civic and he has a 88 supra.. his car is 13 years older than mine... and gues what... its way more powerful than mine.... haha

11K miles to date, not a problem with it.
Do it right, its fantastic, with a lot more torque and half the price of a swap.
I didnt have any problems getting it to run, it fired right up and ran fine, but I've grown to hate emanage with a passion.
Everyone I've seen with a massive headache bought a kit. The kits are not complete and fit like ****. Everyone I've seen who did it custom (and differentiated from junk yard), has a running car. Part of it is that custom makes you learn what you're doing and why to do it, rather than just a pile of parts with an instruction book.

agreed, back in 03, i bought an SF kit, 6 months later, my car was sitting around with a blown engine . i blame it on my lack of experience and lack of information out there at that time. it was nice while it lasted though

you're lucky if you can just "give" it back, once you sign a contract and everythings approved, it's yours.

bikes are dangerous, be safe.

Buddy paid for turbo kit/instal/tuning about ~2700

other buddy going to pay about ~3500 with a better kit and more goodies.

I was going to turbo but its cheapier for me to just swap.

Do it you wont regret

Depends? Auto or Manual?

if you want a safe DD i would recommend just boosting at .4bar

.4 bar ~ 6psi = 170HP its all the same.

No matter if you run 1 psi or 10, you gotta tune it. People have blown them on far less than 6 because they dont tune the car.

Ok you guys are talking 3,500 Wouldn't that be enough for a k? If you install it yourself.

The only cool thing I can think of about the d17 is that they are super cheap.
I picked mine up for $270 non-vtec
vtec for $320
25 to 30 thousand miles.

Yea, I wasn't sure if he was manual or auto cause ~170whp easier to attain on manual than auto and .4bar is perfect for DD.

Take it to a good tuner. Cannot stress this.

$3500 for the motor/tranny yes, you still need about $3000 more for everything else.

well figured out what the problem with e-manage was.... i got ripped off. the guy did NOT supply me with the original greddy cable, therefore it will not communicate with it. either way i got the right software w/ the right cable overnighted and i should be boosting 2nite.... can't wait.
