I have a friend whose father has like a 1980's something ford thunderbird, the one with the four cylinder engine that was turbo charged. Anyway his brother had the car and smashed up the front end. I don't know what kind of turbo this was, just wondering if anyone here remembers anything about this car's set up? Also if this turbo would be worth having it rebuilt and maybe use it on something as it was over heating before my friends rather clumsy brother got hold of it???

just seems like a waste not to do something with it?

well yeah I guess but like I said I think it needs to be rebuilt? I am not really looking to buy a new turbo just thought that someone might be able to tell me about the turbo, thought it might be fun to play around with it or something?
like I said it just seems like a waste to have it sitting there.

from experience you cant really "play around" with turbos. you need to do a lot of hard work and research. if you dont you will blow your motor, and even if you do **** will still go wrong. its not worth spending a grand to build a complete kit with that turbo. just my opinion.

I agree with you that you can't really play around with a turbo on a car. I was not talking about putting the thing on my car I was just wondering if anyone could give me specs of the thing........wasn't really thinking of putting it on a car.

Manual or automatic?

Auto has a Garret T3 with a 60 series compressor wheel and a .48 AR turbine housing.

Manual is the same with a .63 AR turbine housing.

I"m not sure why one would say its a bad turbo(except that it came off a ford). If you decide you don't want it, I'll buy it from you for my JY SOHC project. Of course, thats not really worth the effort either, is it?

its a manual if memory serves me right, thanks just wrote that info down.

as far as selling it, like I said its not really mine and it might need to be rebuilt but if you really want it I could talk to my friend. its just sitting there next to the other car the brother also wreaked
