exaust rattling on idle
ok when my car is idling my exaust starts to rattle...it's an apex n1 catback exhaust...btw...looked under the car and it appears that the **** linkage is slightly bent...not much but still bent...could this be the problem? can anyone verify this? Should i just atempt to straighten it out or replace it all together? Lastly...how hard is it to replace?
definitely, the SHIFT linkage could possible be what is causing the rattling noise. Especially w/pipes 2.5-3" diameter downpiping. Just check the clearance IF it ALMOST touches the pipe. If it is too far, the shift linkage probable isnt your problem. It may also be as simple as a loose nur from any of the connections down the whole exhaust. Your best bet is to just listen to where the noise increases. From there, locate its surroundings after verifying no loose bolts/nuts need tightening.
One more thing, if you have cats(catalytic converters), check the the bolts that attach its heat shield. those might be loos after your exhaust was installed, IF you still have 'em on.
good luck to ya!
