I recently purchased a 99 Coupe, but come to find out it had a tranny leak. So i found the leak but need help fixing....The threads that hold down the bolt for the transmission line are stripped and need some idea's on how to fix, I tried to re-thread them already but they are too messed up.... I cant just move to a bigger size because it requires a special bolt....

YES SIR, AUTO....

 

Is it the bolt or the threads inside as well? What really sucks about honda trans is that theres not alot of inserts company (if any) that makes them. I remember i had a problem like this before where the bolt was a 12M x 1.0 thread and best i could do was a tap.

Yea I bought a new bolt already, the threads inside the tranny is what messed up...

 

I dont know why you need a THAT special bolt? Why cant you just tap it with a bigger bolt? wouldnt that do just as good?

 

thats a banjo bolt for the oil cooler, finding a new bigger bolt it probably impossible, just chase the threads with a tap and screw it in, use some loc tite or something

 

if that doesn't work you can helicoil the threads

I tried to chase them, but no good...

I might try the helicoil.... I think its pretty much my last resort....

 

jb weld? hahaha.... clean the threads, stick a layer on, wait overnight, then rethread.
