i was wondering how do you bar a k20 in a 2005 honda civic

 

Go to civicforums.com or k20a.org and PM HondaLuver. He's the only one I can think of that's bar'd.

 

If its a K20a "JDM" then you don't. the only legal swap is from a usdm engine like the k20a2 or k20a3 when hondaluver did his he put a k20a3 in.

shouldn't be too hard, swap a k20a3 in there, keep everything stock, go and get it passed.

 

Could somebody explain to those of us that don't know what it means to "bar" an engine.

 

smog and emissions regulations in california....pretty much to make the car smog legal

 

haha im glad i live down here in texas i can go to this used car dealer down the street and have him drive the slab around the block come back check all the lights and slap an inspection sticker on that bitch in like 10 minutes

 

sucks to be in california, i think they are trying to implement this smog stuff to other states too .

ahh, thank you. We have emissions tests here in the Chicago area as well. New cars just get plugged in and they check the computer. Older cars get a workout on the treadmill (dyno with a sniffer).

Wow that sucks, here in rural illinois all they do is visually check for a CEL (Make sure it goes on than turns off when you start car) and gas cap sniffer

and in the county i live in, we have no emissions!!!!!!!!!

 

NH just doesn't care.

neither does florida!

we got better things to worry about, like how to vote properly, and why its not a good idea to flip your car on I-4 during rush hour.

if you could find one of those bootleg smog places.... lol cuz my friend bar'd his 98 civ with b16b ctr motor.. cuz he just took it there and paid some little fee and he was bar'd right on the spot
