Default Jump Starting?

I've been told that it's a bad idea to jump start with newer cars when the engine is running because it can mess up the diodes in the alternator. Can anyone back up or refute this information?

hold up jump start the car while the engine is on? why would you need to jump start it?

the big problem is jumpin too new of a car with too old due to the fact yes u can blow the ECU
